Town of Aurora approves Strategic Plan Document provides long-term vision for community development

Aurora, ON – Aurora Town Council has approved a new Town of Aurora Strategic Plan. The plan, based on months of input from residents and businesses, outlines a vision for the Town to 2031 and provides a series of goals and objectives to attain this vision.

"The Town of Aurora Strategic Plan is a blueprint that will help guide Aurora Town Council's decisionmaking

on programs, policies and community investments over the coming two decades,” said Mayor Geoffrey Dawe. "This is a critically important document to assist municipal development, including sustaining a strong economic base and supporting a high quality of life for our residents.”

The Strategic Plan identifies three primary goals and a number of key objectives to support a vision for The Town of Aurora as "an innovative and sustainable community where neighbours care and businesses thrive”:

Community: Supporting an Exceptional Quality of Life for All

  • Improving transportation, mobility and connectivity
  • Investing in sustainable infrastructure
  • Celebrating and promoting culture
  • Encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle
  • Strengthening the fabric of our community

Economy: Enabling a Diverse, Creative and Resilient Economy

  • Promoting economic opportunities that facilitate the growth of Aurora as a desirable place to do business
  • Supporting small business and encouraging a more sustainable business environment

Natural Environment: Supporting Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability

  • Encouraging the stewardship of Aurora's natural resources
  • Promoting and advancing "green” initiatives

The Strategic Plan outlines short, medium and long-term strategies to support each of these goals and objectives. The plan will be reviewed every five years to gauge progress.
